How much money can you earn on TikTok?
Chances are if you don’t live under a rock like Patrick Star, you’ve heard of TikTok, know the hype around TikTok, and have most probably spent hours swiping at the limitless amount of content the app has to offer. And the hype isn’t there for no reason. Ever since TikTok first came into the scene in 2016, it has only grown bigger and the sky seems to be the limit for TikTok. With over a billion monthly active users, TikTok is definitely the place that can make someone a star overnight.
Here’s some interesting statistics about TikTok:
- TikTok has 1 billion monthly active users.
- TikTok has been downloaded 3 billion times and was the most downloaded non-game app of 2021 for the first 6 months.
- Reports suggest that approx 6% of TikTok users use the app for more than 10 HOURS A DAY! And 90% of the users use the app everyday.
- TikTok’s parent company Bytedance is reportedly valued at $280 billion as of August 2021.
With all these interesting stats, we can be sure that TikTok is here to stay and won’t be going anywhere soon. Estimates suggest that a TikTok content creator with 100K followers can on average earn anywhere between $200 – $1000 per month while one with 1M+ followers can earn anywhere between $1000 – $5000+ per month!
Now, this raises a question…
Does TikTok pay Money?
Well, the short answer is Yes… and No.
The reason for this being that unlike YouTube, until March 2021, TikTok didn’t actually pay their users. But as of March 2021, TikTok has started something they call the “TikTok Creator Fund” where they have committed $231 million that will be paid to TikTok creators for the next 3 years.
The amount any individual TikTok creator receives will depend on a number of factors such as the number of followers, number of views on the videos and so on. Thankfully, there’s no limit to how much a creator can earn and there’s no limit to how many creators can join this fund.
How to join TikTok Creator Fund?
Any TikTok creator can apply to join the TikTok Creator Fund, given that the creator meets a certain criteria. The eligibility criteria for TikTok Creator Fund is:
- The creator should be based in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain or Italy.
- The creator should be at least 18 years old.
- The creator should have at least 1000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the past 30 days.
- The creator’s account should not violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines and terms of service.

Even though a handful of creators reported earning as little as $0.02 – $0.04 per 1000 views. But those with millions of followers could be raking in upwards of $50,000 per month.
Now even though TikTok may or may not pay huge amounts to their creators, there are multiple other ways to earn money on TikTok.
Here are some of the methods TikTok creators have been using to earn money on TikTok even before TikTok started the Creator Fund:
Live Streams
Live Streaming is one of the fastest growing ways of content creation. Live Streams allow for a more personal way to connect to the audience in real time.
But you can’t just start streaming right away on TikTok. You’d need at least 1000 followers before you can start live streaming but once you have that audience, live streams are a great way to grow your fan base and following.
You can use affiliate links to earn money by providing affiliate links to products you showcase in the live stream. TikTok is also reportedly working on a system to allow donations and tips on live streams.
Merchandise Sales
Once you have a big enough fan base, you can start your own line of merchandise which you can sell through your TikTok.
There are a lot of websites that allow you to create Merchandise such as plushies, T-shirts, hoodies etc. The key to selling merchandise is to keep reminding your followers to buy your merchandise in your videos. Although your main focus should still be your content.
Brand Sponsorships
Similar to how sponsorships work on any streaming service, TikTok videos are often sponsored by various brands. These brands pay anywhere between $200 – $20,000 per promotional video depending on your audience size. Famous TikTok creators such as Jorden Ray, Charli D’Amelio, Addison Rae and Brent Rivera have all been able to earn a fortune through sponsorships.
Now if you would’ve noticed by now, all of the earning methods on TikTok require you to have a big enough following – anywhere between 1000 – 1M. And growing on TikTok with so many people creating content can be tough and painstakingly time consuming. Buy a TikTok Creator Fund Monetized account or if you have an account already, you can Buy TikTok fans and likes.
How much money do you get per 1000 views on TikTok?
Big TikTok Influencers can get anywhere between $0.02 – $0.10 per 1000 views through TikTok creator fund. While a sponsorship dedicated video can get them up to $1000 per sponsored video with 100K views, which translates to about $10 per 1000 views.
