How to Find the Videos you commented on TikTok
There’s no denying TikTok is one of the fastest growing social media platforms.
Ever since it was first launched in 2016, the short video sharing platform has seen a surge in the number of people using the app. With over 700+ million active users being projected by the end of 2022, TikTok is surely going nowhere.
And with that many active users, a ton of content is uploaded to TikTok everyday. Millions of videos are being uploaded, shared and recommended all across the social media platform.
Other platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram all have an “Activity feed” that you can use to find the videos or posts that you have commented on.
But TikTok, as of today, does not have an activity feed that you can use.
And with a ton of content going around on the social media platform, it becomes really difficult to find a video that you have commented on.
How to find your comment on TikTok
So let’s say you’ve found yourself in a situation where you had commented on a video in the past and you need to find that video.
One of the first ways is to check in your notifications.
Every time someone likes or replies to your comment, TikTok sends you a notification.
The notifications can be found in the “All Activity” section in your notifications.
This is however, different from the “Activity Feed’ on other social media apps because it only shows the notifications sent by TikTok when someone interacts with your comment like replying to it or leaving a like.
Now this could be a possible solution but what if there was no interaction with your comment. And people have noticed that sometimes, TikTok simply doesn’t send notifications for likes on comments. This could be a bug on TikTok’s end but it still exists and has not been fixed yet.
Check your Recently Viewed TikToks
TikTok has recently rolled out a feature to see your recently viewed TikToks.
However, that’s still a bit problematic because the recently viewed TikToks are not in chronological order and can be a pain to scroll through if you’re an avid TikTok viewer.
To view your recently viewed TikToks
● Open TikTok
● Go to the Discover Page
● Type an Asterisk (*) in the search bar
● Click on the icon right next to the search bar in the top right corner
● This will bring up a list of filters you can use to narrow down your search list of recently viewed TikToks (One of the filters allows you to see all the watched videos in the past 7 days. There’s also an option to select the date on which the creator posted it.)
● Choose the appropriate filters to narrow down your search list and tap Apply.
● Now you should be able to see the TikToks you recently watched.
Find it in A Downloaded Copy of Your Data
To request a copy of your data,
● Head over to Settings
● Tap Privacy
● Select “Personalization and Data”
● Select “Download Your Data”
● Tap on the “Request data” button
Remember that TikTok takes about 24 hours to process and make a copy of your data available for you to download.
Once downloaded, you can open the zip file and inside it, there’s a txt file with a link to every TikTok video you’ve watched with the date and time that you watched it on.
And unlike the Recently viewed TikToks, it’s organized in a chronological order and can be easier to find.
Checking Your Liked Videos
Chances are, if you have commented on a TikTok, you probably have liked it as well.
To check your liked videos, simply head to your profile.
And in the middle of your profile, just underneath the edit profile button, you will see a heart icon.
Clicking on the heart icon will display a list of all the videos that you have previously liked. Now obviously, you’re going to have to sort through this list to find the video you commented on.
If you’re still unable to find that one video you’re looking for, then there’s simply no way to find it. It’s painful, we know but there’s simply no option on TikTok to find a video you’ve commented on.
So for the next time, we’d suggest copying the link to a note on your phone or maybe sending it to someone. Or just simply making sure to drop a like on that one TikTok so you can find it in the liked videos section.
