How to Unfreeze a TikTok account?
So you’ve been spending your precious time creating fun and engaging videos on TikTok, trying to grow your account and someone mentions that your TikTok account might be frozen. But what exactly does a frozen TikTok mean?
In simple words, a frozen TikTok account isn’t one that is physically frozen or not working, freezing on TikTok is similar to a shadowban on Instagram and what it means is that a frozen TikTok account will get reduced views, reduced number of recommendations and an overall decrease in the account’s performance.
Why does a TikTok account freeze in the first place?
There can be a number of reasons why your account could be frozen. Some of the reasons why TikTok freezes accounts are:
● Reposting content multiple times
Even though reposting content shouldn’t be a problem, it surely becomes one if you do it too much or too often.
● Reposting others’ content
TikTok also freezes accounts that post others’ content and claim it to be theirs.
● Abusing the follow for follow method too much
Follow for Follow is a method of growing on TikTok that is well suited to people who are just starting out and want some quick followers. It is quite easy to overdo it, resulting in an account freeze. (We did talk about this in a previous article, make sure to check it out)
● Not following TikTok’s community guidelines
TikTok has very strict community guidelines as to what and what you can’t post on TikTok.
Posting any graphic content or nudity, promoting hate speech, drugs or violence all come under prohibited content and could be a reason that an account is frozen.
If not dealt with, the account can even be banned for violation of TikTok’s community guidelines.
Before we begin on how to Unfreeze a TikTok account, we need to check whether an account is actually frozen or not.
To do that, switch over to a professional account, if you haven’t already by heading over to settings, and clicking on “Switch to Business Account”.
This gives you access to analytics that you can use to check if your viewer rate is lower than usual. If so, your account could be frozen.
What to do if TikTok is frozen?
Now that we’ve confirmed that our account is indeed frozen, it is time to take action.
Here’s what you can do to unfreeze your account.
● Remove any videos that violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines.
● Stop following people if you were using the follow for follow method of gaining followers.
● Start creating more videos and posting more frequently to boost your presence.
● Interact with people – Like and comment on other people’s videos. Make sure the comments are genuine and not rude or hateful.
● Post Original content and remove any videos that belong to someone else.
Make sure to check the Analytics frequently to see if your account is getting back to its normal viewer and engagement rate.
How long does it take to unfreeze a TikTok account?
Although uncertain, depending on the reason for the freeze, an account should unfreeze within a couple weeks to a month.
If the account is still frozen after 5-6 months, we’d suggest deleting the old account and starting a new one, making sure to not do whatever was the reason for the old account being frozen.

How do I appeal a banned TikTok account?
If your account hasn’t dealt with a video that violates TikTok’s Community Guidelines or it consistently violates TikTok’s Guidelines, it will eventually get banned.
If your account has been temporarily banned, your account will have reduced features and permissions for a specific number of days.
TikTok will notify you about this and after the time has passed, your account should return to normal, given that you deal with the video(s) that violate TikTok’s guidelines.
You can even talk to the customer support, by heading to Settings and Privacy, clicking on “Report a Problem” > “Accounts and Profile” > “Need More Help” or by writing an email to “[email protected]”.
Explain your situation to the support executive and promise them to not violate the guidelines again and you could even get the temporary ban lifted early.
Getting a permanently banned account is a lot harder and the only way to get a permanently banned account unbanned is to write an email to TikTok support and talking to them and that too doesn’t guarantee that your account will be unbanned.
If you feel like you did nothing to violate the Community Guidelines, there’s an option to file an appeal. If your account is found to be banned by mistake, your account will be immediately unbanned.
