Tiktok, the social media platform that has been all the rage lately and why one may wonder?
That’s because of the simple, yet easy to consume content available on it.
Not everyone has the time to watch a 10 – 30 min YouTube video, whether you’re in the toilet or waiting for a bus, TikTok is just perfect, with 30 sec – 1 min videos ranging from Comedy to Memes to Science and Technology to Pet Videos, there’s something for everyone.
And while it’s easy to enjoy content on TikTok, it’s also quite easy to create videos on TikTok.
It doesn’t take tons of editing skill or a whole recording setup to make a TikTok.
All of the creation can be done in-app with your mobile phone’s camera and TikTok’s built in editor. All this makes TikTok a compelling choice to get internet famous without putting too much time or effort into it.
And with tens of thousands of people uploading videos to TikTok every day, a question we get asked a lot is,
What happens if you delete videos on TikTok?
Just like every other social media platform, TikTok too allows its users to post and delete content posted on their account at will.
A simple google search would do nothing but confuse you instead.
There’s all sorts of people claiming different, contrasting things. One might encourage deleting videos from your account, others might say it’s “EXTREMELY BAD” to delete a TikTok video.
So, we decided to take a look for ourselves and as it turns out, it’s not as bad as some people might say it is, there is a downside to deleting videos from TikTok, that being every video you delete, the number of likes from that specific video will be subtracted from the total number of likes that are displayed on your profile.
And even though some people claim that it hurts organic viewership, we found it to be nothing but false claims as TikTok itself doesn’t antagonize deleting videos and thus, has no adverse effects.
Now that we know deleting a video on TikTok doesn’t have any negative effects other than reducing your total like count, should you be deleting videos on TikTok?
We’d recommend only deleting videos off your TikTok if it’s either violating TikTok’s community guidelines in any way because not deleting a violating video could get your account suspended or if that particular video is getting trolled or receiving hate.
In case you do feel like you need to remove some videos from your TikTok page, we’d highly suggest making the video private instead of simply deleting it. Videos marked as private don’t show up on your TikTok page nor can they be viewed by anyone else but you.
But any number of likes that the video had prior to being changed to private will still remain on your profile.
To make a video private
● Open TikTok and head over to your profile.
● Click on the video you want to make private.
● Click the three dots on the right side.
● Tap on the Padlock
● Under “Who can view this video” click and set it from “Public” to “Private”.
● Now go back to your profile and the video should be gone
To see private videos, go to the tab with the padlock. If any time you need to change the video back to public, all you need to do it simply head over to private videos and follow the same steps and change the video from “Private” to “Public”.
Is it bad to delete and repost on TikTok?
As we said above, TikTok doesn’t have any rules for deleting and reposting content and thus, a single video can be reposted multiple times. We’d encourage deleting and reposting videos that perform poorly to see if they perform better after reposting.
If you have an old TikTok that blew up and got lots of views and likes, and you feel like the video can still do well if reposted, instead of deleting the old video, make the old video private and repost.
That way you’ll keep the likes from the previous upload, and will accumulate the likes you get on the repost.
And if you’re looking for a way to grow your TikTok, Buy genuine TikTok likes and fans now or simply buy a TikTok account if you’re just getting started!
That’s all for today folks, Stay tuned for more power packed content.
