shorts monetization

When will YouTube short videos get monetized?

We see a lot of videos on various niches on YouTube daily. Not only with time, the quality and niche of YouTube videos have upgraded, but its features have also changed.

Out of all the new features that YouTube has incorporated into its platform, the most trending of all is its “shorts” feature. The journey of this feature of YouTube began in September 2020.

Such a feature is highly popular and loved by YouTube content creators. This is because YouTube short videos help YouTubers to create a short video of a maximum of 60 seconds.

Such a short span of YouTube shorts is not only easy for individuals to create and upload but also helps them maintain engagement.

To be more precise, YouTube shorts are a medium of audience-puller. This technique has helped many YouTubers so far to reach out to their targeted audience. Additionally, these short videos are also beneficial for channel growth, and subscribers, and increase channel demand.

However, despite the fact, YouTube shorts help a channel to grow and gain more fame, there is also a major drawback. You see, unlike the Youtube videos that we see from which creators generate their revenue, there is no such flexibility when it comes to shorts.

This has so far been one of the biggest setbacks of Youtube shorts. However, as we are heading towards yet another new year, it is about to bring abundance for YouTubers soon!

It has been officially announced by the Youtube platform that soon creators on the YouTube platform will be able to generate revenue from shorts. However, there’s a catch to this news. To know more, keep reading below!

Will all shorts get monetized?

We already know that YouTube is about to launch a new revenue-generating scheme for YouTubers from 2023 via shorts. Therefore, there are certain rules and protocols that needless to say YouTube platform has constructed for this feature.

Speaking of which, let us first get to know how this monetization of shorts will work. Just like how long YouTube videos get monetized and approved to generate revenue via ads, shorts would work in a sort of similar manner. However, getting monetization in YouTube shorts is not going to be as easy as long videos.

For any short video to be eligible to be monetized, YouTube has created a special eligibility program called “Youtube Program Partner”. Here, the creators need to apply and get selected to start getting their shorts monetized.

The eligibility criteria consist of a very simple rule. At the beginning of 2023, creators of this platform can only participate in this program if they achieve two major factors. The factors include, firstly achieving a minimum of 10 million views on shorts and secondly, having a minimum of 1K subscribers.

Sounds pretty much doable, right? Although the fun fact about the above two factors lies here. To be eligible for the program, the creator needs to accomplish these two requirements over a maximum of 90 days.

So, for any short video to get monetized, it needs to meet the above-mentioned requirements. If a creator is successfully able to do so, his shorts will be monetized.

How to get as much out of shorts?

As YouTube is about to roll out this new feature, it will enable creators to earn in multiple ways from YouTube. Now that you already know the drill on how monetization is going to work, let us talk about the revenue.

As claimed by the Board Members of the Youtube platform, the revenue generated from YouTube shorts, 45% of it will be claimed by YouTube. The share of the creator of the short video will be paid out to the YouTuber by the end of the month.

With that being said, if a YouTuber wants to earn more from short videos, he needs to generate more views on his video. Additionally, a creator can potentially earn a lot more from his YouTube channel by getting his shorts monetized and not posting any long videos.

The rules of YouTube have made it flexible for the creators, encouraging them to earn more.

But while you can’t monetize shorts, you can always monetize your regular YouTube videos. Simply Buy a monetized YouTube channel or 4000 watch hours and 1000 subscribers now to grow your channel organically.

Wrapping Up

You see, in today’s world, earning, especially from social media platforms, has become very easy and flexible. YouTube being one of the many versatile platforms, gives creators a scope to earn plenty and lead a comfortable life.

The initiation taken by YouTube will help a lot of individuals to earn more flexibly. However, I think for any YouTuber to keep earning more, they should post both short and long videos. This will not only help maintain engagement but also multiply the chances of earning better.

Therefore, if you too want to become a successful YouTuber, do use the above tip. I am sure, it will help you a lot, making your YouTube journey as a creator quite happening!
