Why can’t I get all the effects on TikTok?
If you are unable to see some effects on TikTok or rather some effects say “This effect doesn’t work with this device”, there can be a number of reasons for why you’re unable to see all the effects.
1. Update your TikTok app to the latest version
This is something a lot of people don’t notice and it’s one of the most common reasons for some filters and effects not showing up.
If a filter or effect was added with an update, and the version of the app you’re on is a version prior to the release of the filter, the filter just wouldn’t show up for you.
If that is the case, simply head over to Google Play Store on Android or App Store on iOS and update the TikTok app and you should have access to the filter you were looking for.
2. Uninstall and Reinstall TikTok.
So you’re on the latest version of the app, and the effect still isn’t there. Now this is unlikely to happen but there have been instances where the app had bugged out and certain features became inaccessible or stopped functioning.
To fix this, uninstall the TikTok app, clear the app cache and then re-download the app and the app should work fine after the fresh reinstall.\
3. Update your Phone OS.
Some features require your phone to be on the latest firmware possible or some features are only supported if your phone is updated to a specific firmware version or above.
Try updating your phone’s OS by going into settings, selecting “Software Update” and updating your phone to the current firmware.
4. Use A VPN or Disable it if you have one running.
TikTok’s filters are sometimes available in selected countries and not every filter and effect is available in every region.
So if you happen to be in a country where the filter isn’t available, turning a VPN on could do the trick.
Or if you already have a VPN running, turning it off could have the same effect.
5. Change Your Device
This is a last resort but sometimes, when you’ve tried it all but the effect is still unavailable, the problem could be that your device just isn’t capable of running that specific filter or effect.
Some filters require certain amounts of processing power, AR (Augmented Reality) capabilities, cameras with certain sensors and if your device lacks the feature required, there is no way to run that filter. In that case, the only option is to change your device or try using TikTok on a different device.
How do I enable filters on TikTok?
If the reason you can’t find the filter is simply that you don’t know how to get to and use the filters feature, here’s a quick little guide.
To apply a Filter
● Open the TikTok app and tap on the “Create” button. Same way as you would when creating a new video.
● Tap “Filters” on the right side of the screen.
● Select the filter you want to apply. Scroll to search or select from one of the categories.
To apply an Effect:
● Tap “Create”
● In the bottom left corner, right next to the record button, there should be a button called “Effects”. Just tap on it and select the effect you want to use and it’ll be applied to the video.
One thing to remember is, some filters and effects are not applied while creating the video, but are rather applied after the video is done recording. The steps to apply them however, still remain the same.
